Large: 50–70 mm or above

Shape: Uniform, round to oval. Slight variations are acceptable as long as they maintain market appeal.

Skin: Dry, thin, and papery outer skin, free from excessive peeling.

Color:

Red onions: Bright reddish-purple with uniform coloration.

White onions: Pure white, clean appearance.

Yellow onions: Golden brown, consistent shade.

Defects: Free from discoloration, sunburn, or mechanical damage.

Firmness: Firm, with no softness or spongy texture

Neck: Well-cured, thin, and dry, with no thick or green necks.

Pungency: Mild to medium pungency, depending on the variety and market preference.

Uniform weight according to size grades, typically between 100–200 grams per bulb for market-preferred grade

Longer shelf life compared to winter onions due to their strong outer skin and better curing practices.
